Small Sculpture Prize 2022

The application and these terms of conditions are a contract between the artist and Ingenuity and both parties agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions.

Artists must be aware the process is in two stages. Selection of the finalists for the Small Sculpture Prize is the first stage.

Open July 20th and close September 30th 2022 at 11.59pm

Artists of the NSW Northern Rivers region can apply. That comprises the Shires of Tweed, Byron, Ballina, Clarence Valley, Richmond Valley, Lismore and Kyogle.

Sculptures will be exhibited indoors and may be produced in any materials.

The artist warrants that he/she holds the exclusive copyright of the works.

All entries are to be made online via our website.

Artists should take great care in communicating their concept or sculpture in their entry submission. The curatorial panel bases the decision on images, working drawings, the artist statement and biography. A clearly presented, well thought out and devised submission is highly recommended.

High quality images and proposed sketches including scale and elevation are preferable. A maximum of 5 images in jpg format, not exceeding 10MB altogether, can be submitted.

Ingenuity allows the artist full freedom of expression for all forms of sculpture limited to the size of 60cm x 60 cm x 60cm.

The committee reserves the right to refuse any work it deems unsuitable, or due to the size of the art work, or due to safety constraints.

The work entered must not have won a prize in a previous art competition.

As this is a curated exhibition, any selected works must be available for exhibition from 4th-6th November, 2022.

Independent judges will conduct judging of artworks entered.
The judges’ decision will be, in all cases, absolutely final and no correspondence of any kind will be entered into.

A panel of selectors will select 30 works on merit, discernable from the submission for the Ingenuity Small Sculpture Prize.

The selection of the panel will be final.

All works must be delivered to Mullumbimby Ex-Services Club, 58 Dalley Street Mullumbimby between 12pm-4pm on Friday 4th November 2022.

No further responsibility will be taken by the committee for works not collected by 7pm on 6th November– including purchased pieces.

It is the artist’s responsibility to arrange for collection, or shipping of any sold work.

        1. Any 3D visual medium will be considered.
        2. Ingenuity will not consider works that are racist, sexist, derogatory or defaming.
        3. Size limited to the size of 60cm x 60 cm x 60cm.
        4. The work entered must not have won a prize in a previous art competition.

Artists both successful and unsuccessful in their application will be notified by October 10th.

Artists are obliged to transport, install, and then collect their work.

Ingenuity will provide an artist and sculpture information plaque to be placed near the work.

We encourage artists to be present on site regularly to engage with audiences.

It is our aim that the local community meet their local artists to engage in a broader conversation on art experience and creativity.

Sale of works

Works can be for sale, but not necessary. Creative Mullum will take a commission of 30% on any sale.

The information collected for your entry will be used to contact you now, and in the future, unless you inform us in writing not to do so.

Creative Mullum reserves the right to use images of art work entered for future promotional purposes.
