River references: fishing nets in delicate steel forms.
Artist Creative Process
My art practice is mostly about the use of materials. I work with clay, metals, wood and stone. I am also committed to the promotion of sculpture and sculptors especially locally and especially in a way that enhances our public places.
My work in the “cup series’ emerges from two main directions: my production of tea wares in ceramic, especially wares relating to Asian teas, has shaped my current research in stainless steel wire, a medium that forms a thread in my practice. The other influence is basketry which is a source I often turn to in seeking inspiration. These two pieces are essentially whimsical explorations of the material.
