Anthrovenus-, Anthro- meaning humanoid and Venus- meaning desire.- is a figurative sculpture standing around 2 meters tall. She is an assemblage sculpture made from recycled industrial metal- recycled timber fence post and concrete. I haven't weighed her but she is too heavy for two people to lift. I am interested in Art and the anthropocene, art that participates in the conversation on how we as humans are impacting and changing our environment. My art reflects my concern surrounding conservation, consumerism and waste, This sculpture is giving value to recycled resources and using manufactured materials removed from there intended functional context to be transformed into art.I intend that configuring these objects to resemble the human form will represent the complex interrelationship we have with nature.
